Sarah founded YI Dance in 2012. As the principal, she led a team of dance professionals to have built YI Dance into a quality dance institution, providing the first-class education of RAD ballet and Chinese dance. Formally trained in Toronto as an RAD certified ballet teacher, Sarah is a rare dance educator who incorporates ballet and Chinese dance into a highly-effective training methodology.

Sarah possesses a wide range of dance expertise in modern and Chinese dance, as well as ballet. With over 20 years of teaching experience in Canada and China, many of her students became professional dancers in dance companies and dance instructors in universities and dance institutions. She is beloved by students and parents for her personality, dedication, diverse skills, and in-depth understanding of dance education.

Professionally trained since childhood with the sponsorship by the government, Sarah received both Bachelor's and Master’s degrees in fine arts from the renowned Beijing Dance Academy and became a certified university teacher. Starting from age 10, Sarah has performed in over 1,000 professional shows world-wide, including Taiwan, Thailand, Egypt, and Syria. She acted as a professional dancer in China’s first modern dance troupe Guangdong Modern Dance Company for solo and group dances.

As a choreographer and director, Sarah executively and jointly directed large-scale shows, including ”Seeding for Future” by the Education Ministry of China in 2010, “Walking into the World Expo” in Shanghai in 2010, and “Forever Flags” by the City of Beijing Education Committee in 2008. Sarah has created over 20 dance choreographic works and won a number of awards, including the 8th National Dance Competition in China and 9th national professional dance competition Taoli Cup. She co-authored the book of Chinese Folk Dance Teaching Combinations by the University Education Publication of China.
